Greylock Busts Out in Win over Everett
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Mount Greylock girls' basketball team put its five-game losing streak to bed in commanding fashion on Monday, scoring a season high in points in a 63-36 home win over Mount Everett.
The Mounties (5-11) received balanced scoring from eight different players and jumped on the Eagles (7-10) early, opening a 20-6 lead by the end of the first quarter. Paul Barrett's squad essentially put the game away in the second quarter, allowing just two points to Everett on its way to a 19-point lead at the break.
Sophomore captain Lucy Barrett led the Greylock offense, sinking a pair of 3-pointers on her way to a 15-point evening. She also added nine rebounds and three assists, while senior forward Margot Besnard earned a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards. Junior forward Mackenzie Flynn also had a solid night with 13 points and seven caroms.
Deseraye Conaway led the Eagles with nine points. Teammate Hannah Joynce helped out by scoring eight.
The Mounties return to action on Thursday with a road game against Hoosac Valley at 7 p.m.
