Pittsfield Softball Heads Back to Western Mass Final

CHICOPEE, Mass. -- Mia Alfonso went 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs Wednesday to lead the Pittsfield softball team to a 6-2 win over Chicopee in the Western Massachusetts Division 1 semi-finals.

 

Mia Arpante was 4-for-4 at the plate, stole three bases and scored twice.

 

Alyssa Mercier went 3-for-4, and Madison Crouse drove in a pair of runs.

 

Jordynn Bazinet struck out six in dealing a complete-game five-hitter from the circle.

 

Fourth-seeded Pittsfield (10-4) travels Friday to face No. 3 Westfield (11-3) in the sectional final. On Wednesday, the Bombers beat Agawam, 6-2.

 

Pittsfield has been in the Western Mass D1 final the last three times it was played, winning the sectional in 2018.
