Phair Scores 11 Goals as Generals Rout Monson

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Preston Phair scored a school-record 11 goals Tuesday to lead the Pittsfield boys lacrosse team to an 18-4 win over Monson at Berkshire Community College.

 

Phair also set up a pair of goals as the Generals broke a four-game losing streak to start the season.

 

“Preston is currently in his second year with the program, and the work he's done to progress his game in the off-season and in practice has allowed him to develop a heightened confidence in his natural goal scoring ability,” Pittsfield coach J. Noah Tullock said. “The team was really in sync today, and it was great to see all the guys working together to get P the ball and support each other.”

 

Javon Jones scored three goals and set up four more, and Cody Soper also had a hat trick.

 

Jude Wojtkowski stopped nine shots to earn the win in goal.

 

“Jude Wojtkowski has been the backbone of the team in goal all season,” Tullock said. “His ability to take advantage of the long clear today allowed for several transition opportunities.”

 

Pittsfield (1-4) goes to West Springfield on Friday.
