Jayder Raifstanger Leads Monument Baseball into Quarter-Finals

MONSON, Mass. -- Jayder Raifstanger went 4-for-5 in an 18-hit Monument Mountain attack Monday as the Spartans beat Monson, 6-1, in the first round of the Western Massachusetts Division 3 tournament.

 

Camden Raifstanger, Peter Free and Cole Bissalion had three hits apiece for 12th-seeded Monument Mountain (7-8).

 

Owen Wadestruck out six in six innings of work to earn the win on the mound. Arthur Labrie threw one inning of hitless relief to close out the game.

 

The Spartans move on to Wednesday’s quarter-final round and a visit to No. 4 Easthampton (10-3), a 14-4 winner over Athol on Monday.
