Raifstanger Homers Twice in Spartans' Tourney Opener
GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. -- Jayder Raifstanger went 3-for-4 with a pair of home runs and five RBIs Monday to lead the Monument Mountain baseball team to a 14-2 win over Snowden in the Division 4 State Tournament Round of 32.
Seventh-seeded Monument Mountain (19-3) took over the game with six-run innings in the second and third and ended the game in five innings after tacking on a pair of runs in the fourth.
Jack Bissaillon went 3-for-4 with a pair of triples and three runs batted in.
Cole Bissaillon had two hits, and Shaun Frank doubled.
Owen Wade earned the win on the hill, striking out eight, walking one and allowing four hits in five innings of work.
The Spartans move on to the Round of 16 and a home date on Wednesday against No. 10 Hamilton-Wenham, a 15-1 winner over Ipswich on Monday.
