A Vermont woman was asleep at the wheel prior to crashing into a Simonds Road residence last week, according to a Williamstown Police Department report.
The crashes happened at 9:40 p.m. when a westbound Honda Accord on Dalton Avenue crossed the double yellow line, striking a Subaru sedan traveling east, causing it to spin out.
Officer Matthew Ahern was trying to maneuver through the intersection on his way to a reported disturbance on Cheshire Road when the accident occurred, according to Lt. Marc Maddalena.
