Taconic Wins Defensive Battle at Monument Mountain

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – Jaelynn Walker scored 13 points Tuesday to lead the Taconic girls basketball team to a 29-26 win over Monument Mountain.
 
Kiannah Josephs added 10 for Taconic, which trailed, 10-8, at half-time.
 
“It was a battle out there tonight,” Taconic coach Jason Conuel said. “And both teams had a hard time scoring. We started knocking down some baskets and drawing fouls and getting to the free throw line to help us out.”
 
Walker made five of eight free throws and scored seven points in the third quarter, when Taconic outscored the Spartans, 15-9, to take a 23-19 lead into the fourth.
 
Mallory Lucey scored 11 points for Monument Mountain, which got six from Polly Geddes.
 
The Spartans (2-15) finish the regular season on Wednesday at Hampshire Regional.
 
Taconic (5-10) is at Wahconah on Thursday.
