Wahconah's O'Connor, Pittsfield's Cracolici Recognized
This week's iBerkshires.com/Bedard Bros. Atheltes of the Week led their respective teams to two-win weeks that erased tough starts to their 2017-18 campaigns.
Wahconah's girls basketball team opened with a independent road loss but stormed back with a pair of Berkshire County League wins.
Senior Julia O'Connor was a big part of the offense both nights, scoring 11 in a home win over Drury and nine with seven rebounds and a couple of assists at Lenox.
O'Connor is Wahconah's leading scorer in the early going with 11 points per game, about eight points more than she averaged as a junior.
Pittsfield's boys were 1-3 and coming off a two-loss trip to Worcester before knocking off Bay State Academy at the Boys & Girls Club on Monday behind a 26-point, 10-rebound performance from Joe Cracolici.
He followed that up with a team-high 13 points in a four-point win at 2017 Western Massachusettts Division 2 Champion Longmeadow.
The Generals (3-3) play their seventh independent game to open the season on Wednesday when they travel to Tantasqua.
