GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. -- Dion Brown scored 28 points Saturday to lead the Monument Mountain boys basketball team to a 97-72 win over Pittsfield.

“I just tried to stay out of the way today,” Monument Mountain coach Randy Koldys joked. “Our guys, when they get going like that, they’re tough.”

Four Spartans finished in double figures.

Connor Hanavan and Zach Goffin scored 19 and 18, respectively. Nicholas Robbins added 12 as Monument Mountain (5-1) won its fourth straight.

“We got a big lift from [6-foot-4 center] Zach Goffin today,” Koldys said. “We had a little bit of a balanced scoring attack. I was really pleased with how we shared the ball.”

An adjustment at the other end of the floor made a big difference in the win.

“We were behind, 30-26, in the second quarter,” Koldys said. “We called timeout and changed a couple of things defensively, and the next thing you know, we were on a nice roll.”

The Spartans ended up erasing that four-point deficit and taking a 50-34 lead into half-time.

Kymani Harley scored 26 to lead Pittsfield, which got 15 from Sincere Moorer and 12 from Craig Jackson.

The Generals (3-3) will look to snap a two-game skid in Wednesday’s city rivalry series game at Taconic.

Monument Mountain hosts Taconic (5-2) on Monday.

“We’ve got a practice at noon [on Sunday], so we get 18 hours to be happy,” Koldys said. “We’re on to Taconic already.”
