Sweet, Mounties Hand Drury First Loss

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Kamryn Sweet went the distance in the circle and helped her cause with a home run on Tuesday as the Mount Greylock softball team beat Drury, 14-2.
 
The loss ended the Blue Devils’ perfect start to their season.
 
The win qualified Mount Greylock for the state tournament.
 
Sweet drove in three runs at the plate. In the circle, she struck out eight, walked four and allowed one earned run in the five-inning win.
 
Madi Barber went 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles and a pair of RBIs to, and Mila Marcisz, Emma Newberry and Abbey Whitley each had a pair of hits in a 13-hit Mount Greylock attack. Brodi Rosier doubled in a run.
 
Arianna Rivard doubled for Drury, which got just one other hit, from Marley Brothers.
 
Blue Devils pitcher Olivia Perry struck out seven while allowing nine earned runs.
 
Drury (12-1) goes to Mount Everett on Wednesday.
 
Mount Greylock (10-3) hosts Turners Falls on Thursday.
