Turners Falls Tops McCann in Western Mass Tourney

MONTAGUE, Mass. -- The Turners Falls softball team Sunday defeated McCann Tech, 9-1, in the quarter-finals of the Western Massachusetts Division 3 tournament.

 

“Although we finished the season with a loss I am so proud of these girls,” McCann Tech coach Robin Finnegan said. “Turners is a powerhouse, and we kept it close for four innings.

 

“We played well and will definitely learn from this. We have nothing to be ashamed of. I wouldn't trade this team in for anything.”

 

Top-seeded Turners Falls (19-2) led, 4-1, after the fourth inning but scored five more times in its last two turns at bat.

 

McCann Tech finishes the year 14-8.

 

Turners Falls plays the winner of Monday’s game between Athol (15-6) and Greenfield (17-2) in the sectional semi-finals.
