DALTON, Mass. -- The Wahconah boys lacrosse team has put up some big numbers the last couple of years.

Add a very small one to the list.

Joe Massaro stopped seven shots Thursday to backstop Wahconah to a shutout victory in the first round of the Division 4 State Tournament.

Devin Lampron and Billy O'Neill scored seven goals apiece as Wahconah advanced with a 25-0 win over Oakmont.

The victory sends third-seeded Wahconah (18-1) into the Sweet 16, where it will host No. 19 Manchester Essex, a 14-9 winner over Abington on Wednesday.

Massaro stopped two shots in the final minute of a second half played entirely under running time to preserve his first clean sheet of the season.

Wahconah reached running time with a 10-goal second quarter to take a 17-0 lead into half-time.

It got the offense going early when Lampron scored the only goal his team would need in the first minute of the game, the first of his four first-quarter points.

He finished the evening with 11 points on seven goals and four assists.

Nine Wahconah players found the back of the net in the win.

Rylan Padelford had a hat trick, and Jonathan Howard, Jonah Smith and Jack Steiner each scored twice.

Wahconah has allowed a total of 12 goals in its last four games and takes a four-game winning streak into the tournament's second round.
