Hill Pitches Wahconah Baseball to Win in Tournament Title Game

DALTON, Mass. -- Dylan Melle scored on an error in the top of the sixth to break a 6-6 tie, and the Wahconah baseball team Saturday went on to a 10-6 win over Monson in the championship game of the Wahconah Tournament.
 
The hosts and designated visiting team made the most of its six hits and three Monson errors.
 
Gabe Davis doubled and drove in a run, and Joe Woronick had four RBIs in the victory.
 
Tanner Hill got the win on the hill with 5-⅔ innings of work. He struck out five, walked five and allowed three earned runs. Kyle Lee came on to pitch the last 1-⅓ innings.
 
Wahconah advanced to the final with a 5-4, come-from-behind win over Monument Mountain in the first round.
 
Wahconah rallied for two in the bottom of the sixth to erase a 4-3 deficit.
 
Joe Woronick got things started with an infield single. He then stole second and scored on Anthony Dondiego’s triple to center field.
 
Bob Archambault sacrificed Dondiego home with the winning run.
 
Chad Howes went 2-for-2 and scored a run in the win, and Pat Butler went the distance on the mound, striking out three.
 
Monument Mountain’s Sam Cormier went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Jackson Blanchard doubled in a run.
 
Monson jumped out in front early in its first-round game, scoring six runs in the bottom of the first en route to a 9-3 win over Hoosac Valley.
 
John Fiester went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and a pair of RBIs, and Derek Joyce pitched a complete game for the Mustangs.
 
John Krol tripled, and Cole Desroches went 2-for-3 for the Hurricanes, who got a pair of runs batted in from Devin Kogut.
 
In the consolation game, Monument Mountain defeated Hoosac Valley, 12-4.
 
Jared Henry went 3-for-3 with a triple and four RBIs to lead the Spartans offense. Graham Herrick was 3-for-3 with two runs batted in and pitched 1-⅔ innings of hitless relief to earn the win on the mound.
 
Cole Desroches went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Hurricanes.
 
The tournament was moved to the final weekend of the season from the first weekend of the season due to April weather.
