Hoosac Valley's Matrigali Pitches Team Past Drury
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Chris Larabee drove in Noah Matrigali with a sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth Thursday to give the Hoosac Valley baseball team a 1-0 win over Drury in a game shortened to five innings due to rain.
Matrigali earned the five-inning win on the mound, allowing just three hits and striking out nine.
Hoosac Valley added a run in the top of the sixth, but the score reverted back to 1-0 for a final when conditions at Joe Wolfe Field became unplayable to do Thursday’s thunderstorms.
In the fourth, Matrigali led off with a single to left and moved up on a pair of errors to get to third base with one out.
Larabee lofted a 3-2 pitch into center to send Matrigali home.
Ryan Dubie took the loss, allowing just the unearned run on five hits and striking out five.
Thaylen Harrison, Zach Yeaton and Dubie each had a hit for the Blue Devils.
John Krol doubled, and Matrigali went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Hurricanes.
Hoosac Valley (9-6) hosts St. Joseph on Monday.
Drury (2-11) goes to Lenox on Friday.
