Blake Powers Thunder Past Nipmuc

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Evan Blake threw 5-? innings of no hit ball and helped his cause by doubling in a run on Monday to lead the Taconic baseball team to a 5-1 win over Nipmuc in the Division 3 State Tournament Round of 32.

 

Blake struck out six while scattering four hits and four walks before turning the ball over to Damon Pause, who gave up two hits and a run.

 

Nick Guachione went 2-for-4, and Matt Lee doubled in a seven-hit attack for the Thunder.

 

Taconic built a 5-0 lead before Nipmuc got on the board in the top of the seventh.

 

Top-seeded Taconic (18-3) moves on to Thursday’s Round of 16 game at home against either Middleborough (11-9) or Stoneham (12-8), who meet on Tuesday.
