Westport Walks Off Against Mount Everett Baseball

WESTPORT, Mass. – The Westport baseball team Monday scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to earn a 3-2 win over Mount Everett in the Division 5 State Tournament Round of 32.
 
No. 10 Westport used five walks and an error to erase a 2-1 deficit.
 
The Eagles took a 2-0 lead early with runs in the first and third.
 
In the top of the first, Nathaniel von Ruden singled with one out, stole second, went to third when Matt Lowe reached on an error and scored when Jacob Kreis grounded into a fielder’s choice.
 
In the third, von Ruden reached on an error, stole second and moved up on Sean Warren’s single to right. Lowe then grounded out to the left side, allowing von Ruden to score with one out.
 
Von Ruden and Warren had the Eagles’ only hits.
 
Lowe, Michael Ullrich and von Ruden combined to allow just one hit to Westport.
 
The Eagles finish the season with a record of 12-9.
