Superior Court Briefs: November 14 - November 18
David Jones Jr., 28, of Adams had not guilty pleas entered on his behalf on 19 counts of breaking and entering in the daytime, 15 counts of larceny from a building, nine counts of malicious destruction of personal property, two counts of receiving stolen property over $250 and a single count of attempt to commit breaking and entering in the daytime.
Jones was ordered to be held at the Berkshire County House of Correction on $50,000 bail. The charges stem from a series of house break-ins in Adams, Cheshire, Florida, North Adams, Savoy and Williamstown between April 1 and Sept. 1.
Taequan Carter, 19, of Pittsfield was sentenced to two and a half years at the Berkshire County House of Correction after being found guilty on Thursday on one count of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon.
The jury found Carter guilty of stabbing a 39-year-old man on July 29, 2010.
Cases heard before Judge John Agostini on Tuesday, November 15
Wendy Whitney, 40, of North Adams pleaded guilty to two counts of distribution of cocaine and one count of conspiracy to violate drug laws.
She was placed on one-year probation. The incidents occurred between October 2, 2007 and January 23, 2008. Two counts of drug violation within a school zone were dismissed by the state.
Cases heard before Judge John Agostini on Wednesday, November 16
Tara Malloy, 27, of Pittsfield pleaded guilty to 15 counts of receiving stolen property, 13 counts of breaking and entering in the daytime, 12 counts of larceny from a building, nine counts of malicious destruction of property, and single counts of failure to appear in court and common and notorious thief.
Malloy was sentenced to serve concurrent two-year sentences at the Berkshire County House of Correction on the breaking and entering, larceny, malicious destruction and receiving stolen property charges. She was given an additional three month sentence for the failure to appear charge and placed on three years probation on the common and notorious thief charge.
The charges stem from a series of house break-ins throughout the county between June 1, 2009 and November 19, 2009. The failure to appear charge stemmed from her failure to appear in court on April 12.
Cases heard before Judge John Agostini on Thursday, November 17
Gerard Jones, 24, of Pittsfield had not guilty pleas entered on his behalf on two counts of distribution of cocaine - his second offense - and two counts of conspiracy to violate drug laws.
Jones was ordered to be held at the Berkshire County House of Correction on $50,000 bail. Jones allegedly sold cocaine and conspired with others to sell cocaine in Pittsfield between October 1, 2010 and October 6, 2010.
Cases heard before Judge John Agostini on Friday, November 18
Adam Smith, 32, of Pittsfield pleaded guilty to single counts of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, drug violation in a school zone and possession of a dangerous weapon in connection with a motor vehicle stop in Pittsfield on March 28, 2009. Additionally, Smith pleaded guilty to single counts of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and drug violation in a school zone in connection to the execution of a search warrant in Pittsfield on December 31, 2010.
Smith was ordered to serve concurrent one-day sentenced to the Berkshire County House of Correction on the possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and the possession of a dangerous weapon charges. He was given concurrent three to three and a half year sentences at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction on the school zone violations.
