Information Session, Tour Set for Monument Mountain School Project

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The School Building Committee is holding an information session and tour of Monument Mountain Regional School on Tuesday, April 1. 
 
The in-person tour of the high school starts at 5:30 p.m. and the information session at 6 p.m. The community session will also have a virtual component. The Zoom link is here and the meeting number is 897 4670 8537.
 
The committee will review the condition of the high school, the schematic design and the next steps in the project. 
 
The project would be a three-story replacement of the 1968 building, which was recommended by the committee last fall. The cost is estimated at around $100 million with about half reimbursed by the Massachusetts School Building Authority.
 
Voters rejected attempts to update the building a decade ago when the cost was estimated at $51 million with a $23 million reimbursement. 
 
The Berkshire Hills Regional School District was invited back into the MSBA pipeline in 2022.

Fairview Hospital Recognized as a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Berkshire Health Systems (BHS) has announced that Fairview Hospital has been named among the 2025 Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals by The Chartis Center for Rural Health, the 13th straight year Fairview has been so honored. 
 
Chartis' annual Top 100 award program honors outstanding performance among the nation's rural hospitals based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX.

According to a press release, the INDEX is the industry's most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance. Leveraging publicly available data, the INDEX is utilized nationwide by rural hospitals, health systems with rural affiliates, hospital associations, and state offices of rural health to measure and monitor performance across a variety of areas impacting hospital operations and finance.
