Dupuis, Fillio Earn Individual State Titles

Dupuis won the boys final in style, rolling a 278 to defeat Taconic's Luzis Brown (128).
Fillio, meanwhile, defeated Agawam's Cecilia Gomez Marin, 187-126, in the girls title match.
Seventeen boys and 17 girls competed in the individuals meet.
Brown was the top qualifier in the boys division after rolling games of 268 and 234 (740) in qualification.
Dupuis was just behind him at 719.
Fillio was the top seed coming out of the girls qualification round with games of 242 and 173 (620). Her Lee High teammate, Maddie Kotek, was second at 554.
The top eight boys and top eight girls then rolled one more game to determine who would reach match play.
Again, Brown led the way for the boys with a 275 to lead a quartet that included Dupuis, Chicopee Comp's Gianni Renaud and St. John's of Shrewsbury's Nick Cariglia.
Fillio's 171 gave her the top seed for match play on the girls side. Gomez Marin, Kotek and Taconic's Alyssa Smith also advanced.
Kotek defeated Smith, 163-134, to earn a shot at second-seeded Gomez Marin, who won, 145-130, to earn the right to take on Fillio in the final.
In match play on the boys side, No. 4 Cariglia beat No. 3 Renaud, 233-203. But Dupuis held off Cariglia, 239-207, to set up his final against Brown.
Dupuis and Brown were named to the all-tournament team in the boys division. Fillio, Kote, Smith, Taconic's Abby Bliss and Lee's Hailey Hankey earned all-tournament honors on the boys side.
