Following a call for applications in September, the organization received applications from 41 organizations and residents requesting funding for local events and initiatives amounting to $45,075.
Housatonic Heritage has granted a $15,000 Heritage Partnership grant. This will go toward a $35,000 matching grant for feasibility and planning from the Massachusetts Cultural Facilities fund announced in July.
The council's priorities are to improve the quality of life for residents by promoting access, education, and diversity in the arts, humanities and interpretive sciences.
On Wednesday, the panel voted in favor of the project after it was suggested by member Abigail Allard. They agreed that this would be a great resource if it is feasible.
