Satrape Leads Generals to Big Road Win
EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. -- After a brief slump, the Pittsfield girls' basketball team continued its recent surge by earning its third straight double-digit win on Thursday night, going on the road to pick up a 49-34 victory over East Longmeadow.
Junior Dominique Satrape knocked down four 3-pointers on her way to scoring a season-high 22 points for the Generals, which improved their record to 10-4 and clinched a spot in the Western Mass. tournament with the win. Pittsfield's defense was key to the visitors opening up a large lead in the first half. Joe Racicot's squad held the Spartans (4-9) to just 11 points in the first two quarters combined, giving the Generals a 13-point lead at halftime.
"East Longmeadow is a big team that posed a few early matchup problems for our defense," Racicot said. "We made a few defensive adjustments that forced some turnovers and contributed to us getting the win."
Sophomore forward Lauren Carnevale was a big factor on the defensive end the Pittsfield, finishing with nine rebounds in the game. Freshman Emily Koldys didn't score for the visitors but made an impact with a team-high 15 boards.
Lauren Kennedy led the way for East Longmeadow with 12 points.
The Generals next play at South Division leader Hoosac Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
