Mounties Start Slow in loss to Millionaires
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- A poor start coupled with an offense that never really got going was too much for the Mount Greylock girls' basketball team to overcome on Tuesday night, leading to a 43-28 home loss to Lenox. The Millionaires (3-1) jumped on the Mounties early, taking a 12-3 lead after the first quarter. Greylock (2-3) rallied to outscore Lenox 11-9 in the second quarter, but Paul Barrett's club only managed to score 14 points after halftime. Freshman Lucy Barrett carried the Mounties' offense, scoring more than half of her team's points on her way to a game-high 16. Senior forward Sierra Holland added eight points and three rebounds for Greylock, which only got four points combined from the seven other players it put on the court.
"Kudos to Lenox for a fine defensive effort," Barrett said. "We're going to continue to improve while working out the kinks as well."
Liz Mitts paced Lenox with 14 points, while Hayden Zinchuk chipped in with 10. The Mounties next play at Mount Everett at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
