McCarthy, Wahconah Girls Advance to Sweet 16

DALTON, Mass. – Madison McCarthy scored 13 points Friday to lead the Wahconah girls basketball team to a 53-28 win over West Bridgewater in the Division 4 State Tournament First Round.
 
McCarthy went 10-for-11 at the free throw line for No. 15 Wahconah, which advanced to the Sweet 16, where it will face second-seeded Millis, a 54-25 winner over O’Bryant in the first round on Thursday.
 
Wahconah made 22 free throws as a team, including 10-for-14 from the line in the second half.
 
Anna Doyle scored 12 points, and Sammie Kaley scored 11.
 
Doyle scored seven points in the third quarter, when Wahconah (15-7) outscored the visitors, 19-7, to open a 44-19 lead.
