Mason Leads Wahconah Past Monson

MONSON, Mass. – Olivia Mason scored 14 points, and the Wahconah girls basketball team Monday held off a fourth-quarter comeback by the Mustangs to earn a 35-31 win over Monson in the season opener.

 

Monson rallied for 17 points in the final eight minutes to cut into a 26-14 deficit.

 

Mason and Anna Doyle each scored four points in the fourth to help Wahconah maintain its margin.

 

Doyle finished with eight points, and Olivia Roberts scored five in the win.

 

Mason converted eight of 12 free throw attempts.

 

Olivia Chrzan scored 15 to lead Monson.

 

Wahconah (1-0) goes to Hoosac Valley on Wednesday, Dec. 20.
