Gamberoni, Wahconah Girls Come Back for Road Win
GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. -- Maria Gamberoni scored 22 points, and the Wahconah girls basketball team bounced back from a rough first quarter to earn a 57-36 win over Monument Mountain on Monday night.
The Spartans outscored Wahconah, 18-9, in the first eight minutes. Wahconah tightened up its defense and held Monument Mountain to one point in the second quarter t go to the locker room down by just two, 19-17.
Wahconah then exploded for 25 points in the third quarter to build a 12-point lead.
Noelle Furlong scored 17, and Jilly Cote added eight in the win.
Maya Cooney led the Spartans with 12 points. Bella Saporito and Abby Dohoney each scored six in the loss.
Monument Mountain (2-11) goes to Pittsfield on Wednesday.
Wahconah (12-3) is at Hoosac Valley on Thursday.
