Hurricanes Hit the Skids in Loss to Lenox
LENOX, Mass. — What was supposed to be a battle for the South Division lead turned into a harsh reality check for the Hoosac Valley girls' basketball team, which lost 52-27 on the road to Lenox on Monday night. The two teams came into the game at the top of the South Division standings, but it was the Millionaires (5-1) who took control right out of the gate, opening a 12-6 lead after the first quarter of play. Lenox's defense never really let the Hurricanes (6-2) get anything going, which helped the hosts open a 19-11 advantage at halftime. The Millionaires' offense then put the game away in the third quarter, reeling off 22 points in the frame to open a 20-point cushion entering the fourth.
"Lenox totally outplayed us in all aspects of the game," Hoosac head coach Ron Wojcik said. "I was very disappointed in our lack of effort."
Hayden Zinchuk led the Millionaires' offense with a game-high 21 points and 12 rebounds. Senior Erica Mach paced the 'Canes with nine points and 10 boards.
Hoosac next plays at Monument Mountain at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
