CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Kailynne Frederick scored 23 points Thursday to lead the Hoosac Valley girls basketball team to a 59-57 win over Pittsfield that clinched the Berkshire County North Championship for the Hurricanes.
Frederick scored eight of her points in the fourth quarter as Hoosac (18-2) rallied from a nine-point deficit to get its second win of the season against the Generals.
Pittsfield (13-7) recovered from a seven-point half-time deficit by outscoring the defending Western Massachusetts Division 3 champs, 21-5, in the third quarter.
Bella Aitken (18 points) hit a pair of 3-pointers, and Peyton Steinman scored seven of her 17 points in the third quarter, which also saw the Generals get 3s from Lachazity Shaver and Jordyn Lummus.
But in the fourth, Lexi Mercier hit a 3, and Alie Mendel scored six points to go along with the eight from Frederick and bring the Hurricanes all the way back.
