NORTH ADAMS -- The Drury girls' basketball season will head into the Christmas break with plenty of holiday sprit thanks to a dominating 59-21 win over visiting Mohawk on Thursday night.

Senior captain Meagan McCarthy jump started the Blue Devils in the first quarter, scoring nine points and grabbing four offensive rebounds in the first eight minutes of play. Her efforts helped John Franzoni's squad post a 23-5 lead after the first quarter and by halftime most of his starters had already left the game. McCarthy finished with a game-high 11 points and five rebounds, while classmate Cassie Lincoln netted 10 points to go along with three assists. Lincoln was 4 of 4 from the field, making both of her shots from behind the arc.

"It was just an excellent team effort last night," Franzoni said of Drury, which improved to 3-1 on the season with the win. "The girls played tough on both ends of the court, and we really shot the ball well throughout the game."

Sophomore Danielle Racette only had three points on the night, but played very well in other aspects of the game, finishing with a team-high seven steals and six assists in less than one half of action. Fellow sophomore Shannon Garvey also had a solid outing, scoring nine points and grabbing a team-high eight boards.

The Warriors were led by Eliza Hollister, who was the only Mohawk player in double figures with 10 points.

The Blue Devils next host Lenox in the first round of the Gene Wein Holiday Tournament at 7:30 p.m. on Monday night. They will try to avenge their only loss of the season after the Millionaires defeated them on their home court last week.
