SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Zi’yan Wallace scored 21 points Thursday to lead the Renaissance girls basketball team to a 65-45 win over Drury in the Western Massachusetts Class C semi-finals.

Sy’Nye Baker scored 16 for the Phoenix, who advance to Saturday’s regional final against top-seeded Lenox, a 50-38 winner over Lee on Thursday night.

Drury went down, 31-15, at half-time and trailed by 26 going to the fourth quarter but played hard to the end, outscoring Renaissance, 19-13 over the last eight minutes.

“I thought we did a good job early in the game weathering storm, but unfortunately we went through a stretch late in the second and into the third where we – including myself – probably let our emotions get the best of us,” Drury coach Ian Downey said.

Hannah LaCasse scored 14 points to lead the Blue Devils, who got eight points apiece from Addisyn Shepard and Ashlyn Hayden. Jacinta Felix finished with seven points.

Lacasse scored nine points in that fourth-quarter rally for the Blue Devils.

“We regrouped and played much better in the fourth and made them finish with their best players in the game,” Downey said. “So I was happy to see us finish the game strong.”

Drury (10-10) learns Saturday who it will open play against in the Division 5 State Tournament.
