Mount Greylock Boys Win South Division Showdown
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Zach Ronnow had a big game, scoring 23 points in Mount Greylock’s crucial win over Lenox 60-56 Friday night.
Ronnow played a big role in Mount Greylock’s win both scoring and rebounding.
Patrick Storie also had a big night, scoring 22 points including four 3-point field goals. Sean McCormack had six.
This was a big game for both of these teams fighting for the Southern Division Championship. Mount Greylock (11-6), was looking for a bit of revenge after losing to Lenox a couple of weeks ago.
“We are battling for the South so this was a big win for us,” Mount Greylock coach Bob Thistle said. “We went to Lenox a couple weeks ago and they beat us down there, so its nice to come back and win.”
For Lenox (9-8), Tyler Shepard had a nice night scoring 21 points including four 3-pointers as well. Patrick Colvin also poured in 18 points.
This was a big loss for Lenox as they fall two games behind Mount Greylock in the Southern Division.
Mount Greylock came out firing, getting off to an 11-3 lead. It was the pressure that forced Lenox into turnovers to help secure the lead going into the half 33-24.
Lenox fought back hard, getting some great production from Tyler Shepard, who scored 11 of the Millionaires’ 18 points in the quarter as they trimmed the lead to six going into the fourth. It was not enough as Mount Greylock continued to control the pace of the game and was able to finish it off.
“This is a young team we have and I couldn’t be prouder of them,” Thistle said. “The kids really grinded it out and persevered.”
Greylock will go on the road to Monument Mountain Tuesday, and Lenox will host McCann Tech Tuesday night.
