Crusaders Bounce Back, Rout Warriors
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — A second-half surge allowed Saint Joseph’s to cruise past Wahconah 78-43 on Saturday at the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.Led by Tank Roberson (23 points) and Michael Carpenter (16 points, 12 rebounds), the Crusaders (5-2) outscored the struggling Warriors (1-7) 55-19 in the second half to earn the win in its first game since a tough loss against New Leadership.
Despite a slow start in the first half, in which neither team played well offensively, St. Joe’s began hitting its open shots after halftime, using its defense as a catalyst to offensive opportunities, according to head coach Paul Brindle.
Along with Michael McMahon (12 rebounds), Carpenter and the Crusaders crashed the boards, gobbling up 54 rebounds during the game.
St. Joe’s plays its final non-division game on Tuesday when it travels to Adams to play Hoosac Valley.
