Crusaders Cruise in Blowout Victory
DORCHESTER, Mass. — A balanced effort led to a 97-33 win for Saint Joseph's over host Hampden Charter in its season opener.
Five players scored in double figures to lead the Crusaders (1-0) in what was a one-sided contest from the opening quarter.
Tank Roberson scored a game-high 17 points, while Joseph Wiggins (13 points, 10 rebounds) and Michael McMahon (12 points, 10 rebounds) each registered double-doubles.
St. Joe's ran out to a 34-4 first-quarter lead en route to a 54-7 lead at halftime. After losing in the Western Massachusetts Division III Semifinal to end last season, Crusader head coach Paul Brindle is happy with the way his team began this season.
"We played very unselfish, distributed the ball, and ran the floor very well. Nice game for the first of the year," Brindle said.
