Racette Scores 22, Drury Boys Move to 7-0
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Reece Racette lifted the Drury boys basketball team to a 69-56 win over Mount Greylock on Monday night at the Bucky Bullet Gymnasium.
Racette had 19 of his 22 points in the second half, including a near perfect 11-12 from the line.
Hayden Bird scored 17 while Connor Meehan had 11.
Round two between Drury (7-0) and Mt. Greylock (2-3) went similar to the first meeting with a Drury Blue Devil victory. Like the first matchup, Mount Greylock came out strong with Drury struggling to find the mark. Mount Greylock took a 12-11 lead going into the second quarter. The Mounties continued to add to their lead with strong play from Sean McCormack on the offensive boards. He had a game-high 24 points, and the Mounties took a 25-20 lead into the break.
The second half proved to be the difference maker for the Blue Devils as they started to wear down Mount Greylock with pressure. Drury took its first lead of the game since the first quarter on a 3-pointer by Christian Montoya and ended the quarter with a 41-38 lead.
Drury went on to score 49 points in the second half, more than doubling its first half total. Coach JackRacette talked about how important it was for his team to score close to 70 points a game and they landed just around that. Free throws then played a big role in this game as the Blue Devils knocked down 22 of 30 from the line to seal the game.
This is the last time these two teams will meet in the regular season, giving Drury the 2-0 edge and more importantly giving them their seventh consecutive win leaving them only three shy of qualifying for post-season play.
Drury will take on Lenox at home Thursday night while Mount Greylock will look to regroup against Pittsfield High.
