Thomas, Greylock Take Down Wahconah
DALTON, Mass — The Mount Greylock boys' basketball team was in a little mini-slump coming into Friday night's game against Wahconah. Thanks to Tyrell Thomas, however, the Mounties appear to be back on track after earning a 53-41 road win over the Warriors.Thomas broke out for a game-high 23 points, including a perfect 8 for 8 effort at the free-throw line, for Greylock, which had lost two out of its last three games coming into Friday night's contest. The Mounties (9-3) led just 20-18 at halftime, but took full control of the game with a 17-4 scoring edge in the third quarter. Wahconah (1-12) managed just four points each in the first and third quarters but managed to stay in the game by posting 33 points combined in the other two periods.
"We had a sluggish first half offensively," Greylock head coach Bob Thistle said. "But the kids came out hard in the third quarter and took control of the game."
Thomas also posted team highs of eight rebounds, four assists and three steals, while junior center Tyler Picard chipped in with 10 points and seven boards. Collin Parrott led the Warriors by scoring nine points.
The Mounties next host Taconic at 7 p.m. Monday night.
