Hoosac Valley Boys Pull Away Late in State Tourney Win

CHESHIRE, Mass. – Trevor Moynihan scored 19 points Thursday to lead the Hoosac Valley boys basketball team to a 66-45 win over St. John Paul II in the first round of the Division 5 State Tournament.
 
“Hoosac Valley was on top the whole way, finally pulling away early in the fourth quarter,” Hurricanes coach Bill Robinson said.
 
Blake Mazzeo hit three 3-pointers and scored 11 points in that fourth quarter on his way to a 13-point night.
 
Adan Wicks scored 16, and Qwanell Bradley added 10 in the win.
 
Hoosac Valley (9-12) advances to the Round of 16, where it will face either Boston Prep Charter or Drury, who meet on Friday evening in North Adams.
