Mount Everett Boys Fall in State Tourney Opener

SHEFFIELD, Mass. – Wilson Garcia scored 21 points Monday to lead the Boston Prep Charter boys basketball team to a 67-58 win over Mount Everett in the Division 5 State Tournament preliminary round.
 
Jayden Goncalves and Jerry Langston scored 19 points apiece for Boston Prep, which outscored the Eagles, 38-27, in the second half.
 
No. 36 Boston Prep Charter (10-7) advances to the first round of the 32-team tournament, where it will meet No. 4 Drury on Thursday in North Adams.
 
Matt Lowe hit four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 23 points for Mount Everett, which got 15 points from Sean Warren.
 
Darius Taliaferro and Brady Carpenter added eight and seven points, respectively.
 
Mount Everett finishes the season with a record of 11-9, its fourth straight winning season.
