WESTHAMPTON, Mass. – Hailey Wodecki went 4-for-4 with a double and six RBIs Saturday to lead the Hampshire Regional softball team to an 11-0 win over Wahconah in Division 4 State Tournament First Round.

Raegan Dubay struck out 12 in the circle for the eighth-seeded Raiders (14-8), who also knocked Wahconah out of the Western Massachusetts Class B regional tournament a couple of weeks ago.

“We were more competitive today than we were the last time we played them 10 days ago in the Western Mass tournament,” Wahconah coach Dustin Belcher said. “We did a better job competing, but they’re a very good team, fundamentally sound. I’m really proud of the way we competed.”

Elena Iovieno went 2-for-3 at the plate, and Kenadi Arnhold and Hannah Talora each had a hit for Wahconah.

Sammie Kaley went the distance in the circle, striking out four and allowing just four earned runs.

Wahconah finishes the season with a record of 9-12 and 11 varsity players scheduled to come back in 2025.

“We’re young,” Belcher said. “Starting four freshmen and five on the roster.

“I’m really proud of my seniors. I thought they did a great job all year keeping us on track. And to get this team – graduating eight kids from last year – to get this team to the postseason, I think was an accomplishment.”
