CHICOPEE, Mass. – Emily Steuernagle hit a home run and a double Friday to lead the Mount Everett softball team to a 10-7 win over Chicopee Comp.

Makayla Carpenter went 4-for-4 with three doubles and drove in a pair of runs in a 15-hit attack for the Eagles.

Emily Gilmore went 3-for-4, and Aliyah Creamer came off the bench to hit a pinch-hit triple.

“Overall great job today from the girls bouncing back from yesterday's game [at Hoosac Valley],” Mount Everett coach Joshua King said. “We made the adjustments at the plate with all our batters which was good to see and we were able to knock in runners today which we didn't yesterday.

“I think more impressive was our ability to get productivity from the entire line up and shake off the mental mistakes much easier today. Julia [Devoti] got hit around a little today but maintained her composure and finished the game out in the circle. The infield was solid again today and the outfield got to the ball when they needed to also catch some Chicopee Comp runners off guard.”

Devoti struck out five in a complete-game effort in the circle.

Mount Everett (4-7) goes to McCann Tech on Monday.
