LENOX, Mass. -- The McCann Tech softball team seems to be saving its best play of the year for the end of the season. The Hornets won their fourth straight game on Friday, defeating Lenox 15-0 on the road to increase their season record to 12-6. Always a tough out at home, McCann has now improved its road record to 5-5 by winning its last two games away from North Adams.

Robin Finnegan's club scored 15 runs for the second straight game, but the bigger story in the win against the Millionaires was the play of starting pitcher Katlyn Haring, who earned the shutout by allowing just two hits and no walks while striking out six in a complete seven innings of work. It was the first shutout of the season for Haring, who saw her record improve to 9-5 with the win.

"Kate Haring pitched a great game," Finnegan said. "We were connecting with the bats, which is a good sign for the week to come. We played well defensively behind Kate, and I believe this gives us confidence at the plate."

The Hornets actually connected to the tune of 17 hits and had six different players collect multiple hits in the game. Sophomore Katie Hancock continued her hot week with a 2 for 2 showing with a single, triple and two RBI. in three games this week, Hancock batted .700 overall with six RBI and six runs scored.

Junior Maria Denault also stood out, going 2 for 2 with a single and a solo home run. Haring, Ashley Alibozek, Jamie LeTourneau and Bryana Malloy also finished with two hits in the game. McCann scored seven runs in the top of the third and scored in six of the seven inning in the game.

The Hornets next take on Ware, a team who currently sits in first place in their division, at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
