Wareham Rallies Past McCann Tech in Softball State Tourney

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – The Wareham softball team Sunday rallied from a two-run deficit after four innings to earn a 15-11 win over McCann Tech in the Division 5 State Tournament.
 
No. 20 Wareham (17-4) advances to the Round of 16 to face the winner of Monday’s game between Gateway and Georgetown.
 
No. 13 McCann Tech (11-6) took the lead in the bottom of the fourth with a seven-run rally
 
Paige Rochelo singled to left with two out to drive in Ryleigh Rathbun and Khloe Vanuni and give the Hornets an 11-9 lead.
 
But the Vikings tied it in the top of the fifth and took control with a three-run sixth inning while Bryanna Troupe held the Hornets scoreless over the last three innings.
 
Rochelo went 3-for-4 with three RBIs to lead McCann Tech’s offense.
 
Rathbun doubled, and Shaylee Lawson went 1-for-2 with three walks and scored three runs.
 
Alexis Lemanski and Emma Lemire split time in the circle for the Hornets, combining to strike out four and allow eight earned runs.
