Pittsfield, Hoosac Girls Lax Teams Split Double-Header
CHESHIRE, Mass. -- The Hoosac Valley and Pittsfield girls lacrosse teams split a double-header on Monday at Hoosac Valley High School.
In Game One, Claudia Bresette scored with 1 minute, 9 seconds left in regulation to give the Hurricanes an 11-10 win.
In Game Two, Alyssa Barnes scored four goals to lead the Generals to a 15-11 win.
In the first contest, Pittsfield (2-9) led 9-8 with 12:27 on the clock after Hassett scored her fourth goal of the game.
But Aubrey Rumbolt and Holly Cadran each scored to give Hoosac a lead with just more than two minutes to play, and after PHS tied it with 1:54 on the clock, Bresette got the game-winner.
"This was a very back-and-forth game," Hoosac Valley coach Molly Meczywor said. "Both teams had a chance to pull ahead at the end.
"I was very proud of our composure with two minutes left to get the lead and maintain it. Holly Cadran did a fantastic job of finding the net in the first game."
Cadran scored five times for Hoosac Valley (2-6), which got nine saves from Monica Vallieres in the Game One win. Haley Milne stopped nine shots for PHS.
In Game Two, Pittsfield scored the last five goals of the first half and outscored the Hurricanes, 7-4, in the second half to get the win.
Hassett and Alex Zuber each had a hat trick for Pittsfield in the win.
Hoosac Valley plays another double-header at Wahconah on Wednesday. Pittsfield hosts Mount Greylock on Wednesday at Herberg Middle School.
