Leitch Plays Pivotal Role in Greylock's Win over Lee
LEE, Mass. -- Andrew Leitch stepped up big when his team needed him the most, throwing a complete game on the mound and scoring a pair of runs to help the Mount Greylock baseball team kill a three-game losing streak in a 12-2 win at Lee on Saturday.The sophomore starter earned his first win of the season by scattering nine Wildcat hits over seven innings of work. He threw six scoreless innings before Lee finally got to him with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Leitch finished with four strikeouts and two walks on the day, while also going 2 for 3 at the plate with a triple and two runs scored.
The Mounties (3-5) put up single runs in each of the first three innings before breaking out with nine runs over the final three frames combined. Seniors Tommy Nowlan and Brandon DeCelles and junior Billy Pulasky led the Greylock offense, each collecting a pair of hits to go along with two runs batted in. The Mounties had seven extra-base hits on the day, led by a pair of doubles by Nowlan.
Greylock next hosts Lenox at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
