Brown Tosses Two-hitter To Beat Hoosac
LEE, Mass. — J.T. Brown helped the Lee baseball team avenge a loss to Hoosac Valley five days ago by posting a dominant pitching performance on Wednesday. Brown stymied the Hurricanes' offense, allowing just two hits on his way to earning a complete-game 10-0 shutout win for the Wildcats.Brown struck out seven batters and walked three for Lee, who lost 8-2 to the Hurricanes (9-5) on Friday. The Hoosac defense was much more hospitable the second time around, however, allowing five earned runs on four errors. Sophomore starter Justin Nichols ended up taking the brunt of his defense's mistakes, allowing six runs, only two of which were earned, in three innings of work. Nichols fanned four batters and walked three as his record fell to 1-3 this season.
The Wildcats scored two runs apiece in the first three innings, taking a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a double by Ken Retzel. It was just one of two doubles on the day for Retzel, while Nate Buratto also smacked a triple and a double for the hosts.
The Hurricanes have three more games in the next three days, starting with a home date against Pittsfield at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
