Taconic Baseball Falls at Sandwich

EAST SANDWICH, Mass. – Matty Taylor struck out 10 and allowed just one hit Sunday to lead the Sandwich baseball team to a 10-0 win over Taconic in the Division 3 State Tournament.
 
Twelfth-seeded Sandwich (15-6) advances to the Sweet 16 to play either Belchertown or Blackstone Valley RVT, who meet on Monday.
 
On Sunday, Sandwich got on the board early with a run in the first and a run in the second but really opened things up with a five-run fifth inning.
 
Casey Woodill went 2-for-3 with a triple and a double for Blue Knights.
 
Mitchell Hall had the lone hit for Taconic, which also worked five walks.
 
Damon Pause and Quentin Christopher split time on the hill for the Thunder, striking out five hitters between them.
 
Taconic finishes the season with a record of 12-9.
