Salzarulo Powers Taconic Past Agawam
AGAWAM, Mass. – Christian Salzarulo Wednesday went 2-for-4 with a home run, a triple and three RBIs to lead the Taconic baseball team to a 10-5 win over Agawam.
Taconic jumped on top early, when Salzarulo’s triple and Quentin Christopher’s RBI double keyed a three-run first inning.
But Agawam struck back, scoring four in the bottom of the second to go ahead, 4-3.
Taconic tied it in the fourth when Christian Aldrich’s sacrifice fly plated Connor Paronto.
And in the fifth, Salzarulo hit a two-run double to give the Thunder the lead for good at 6-4.
Taconic went on to score three more runs in the inning and led, 10-4, going to the seventh.
Damon Pause earned the win on the mound, striking out eight and not allowing an earned run in six innings. Gavin O’Donnell finished up in the seventh.
Taconic (4-1) goes to Westfield on Friday.
