NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Chase Vander-Woude hit a two-out single in the bottom of the seventh to score Ozzie Weber and give the McCann Tech baseball team a 2-1 win over Lee on Friday in the opening round of the Western Massachusetts Division 4 tournament.

It was a 1-1 game midway through the third, and that is where it stayed until the Hornets rallied for the walkoff win.

Weber got things started by drawing a six-pitch walk. Seth Farnsworth then reached on a bunt.

Colin Booth’s sac bunt moved both runners into scoring position.

After Lee’s Mike Naventi got the second out on a line drive to right, Vander-Woude hit a line drive up the middle to end the game.

Landon Champney went 2-for-3 at the plate and scored the other run in McCann Tech’s six-hit attack.

Weber earned the win on the mound with 1-⅓ innings of scoreless relief for starter Aaron Livsey, who struck out six over 5-⅔.

Naventi went the distance and was the hard-luck loser for Lee (4-10). He allowed just one earned run and struck out two.

Dylan Boomsma went 2-for-3, and Colin Durken drove in the Wildcats’ run.

No. 4 McCann Tech (9-3) will play Monday in the sectional quarter-finals against Ware, a 9-2 winner over Drury on Friday night.
