Maynard Earns 1-0 Walkoff Win over McCann Tech in D5 Tournament

MAYNARD, Mass. – Max Mandler led off the bottom of the seventh with a home run to left field to give No. 16 Maynard a 1-0, walkoff win over McCann Tech in the first round of the Division 5 State Tournament on Saturday.

 

Nick Gilman scattered seven hits to that point and walked two while striking out four to keep the game scoreless for the Hornets.

 

McCann Tech, meanwhile, managed just two hits against Mandler, who struck out five and walked none to earn a complete-game win on the mound.

 

Dylan Turner and Jacob Howland each had a hit for the Hornets.

 

McCann Tech finishes the season with a record of 14-7 and a Western Massachusetts Class C Championship.
