Hinkell Homers, Pitches Drury to Comeback Victory for Win No. 10
MONTAGUE, Mass. – Noah Arnold laid down a sacrifice bunt in the top of the seventh to break a 4-4 tie and send the Drury baseball team on to a 6-4 win over Turners Falls on Friday.
The victory clinched a berth in the state tournament for Drury, which has eight games left in the regular season.
Arnold drove in Darian Vidal, who pinch ran for J.J. Prenguber.
Prenguber led off the inning by drawing a walk. Vidal went from first to third on a bunt single by Colby Malloy.
Malloy ended up scoring on a wild pitch to make it a two-run inning.
Connor Hinkell then earned the win on the mound by striking out the side in the bottom of the seventh.
Hinkell threw 1-? innings of scoreless relief of starter Nick Lescarbeau, who struck out seven and allowed three earned runs.
Hinkell also hit a three-run home run in the top of the fifth to tie the game at 4-4.
Malloy finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate and scored a pair of runs.
Drury (10-2) goes to Hoosac Valley on Saturday.
