Drury Baseball Falls Despite Strong Performance from Rylander

WESTHAMPTON, Mass. – Jack Boyle struck out five and allowed just one run in six innings Saturday to lead the Hampshire baseball team to a 5-1 win over Drury in the Blue Devils’ season opener.
 
That one Drury run came on a solo home run by Carson Rylander in the top of the third to tie the game, 1-1.
 
Hampshire scored two in the bottom of the inning and two more in the fourth to take control.
 
Rylander started on the mound and pitched into the fourth, allowing all five Hampshire runs but just two earned runs.
 
Connor Hinkell struck out four in three scoreless innings of relief.
 
Lucas Hamilton and Julian Feliciano each had a pair of hits for Drury.
 
The Blue Devils (0-1) host Mohawk Trail on Monday at Joe Wolfe Field.
