Pittsfield's Girls Edge Wahconah at Monument Mountain

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – Dezerea Powell won two events and ran on a winning relay Thursday to lead the Pittsfield girls track and field team to a narrow win over Wahconah.

 

Powell won the 100 meters and long jump and ran a leg on the Generals’ victorious 4-by-100 relay as Pittsfield edged Wahconah, 71.66-68.33.

 

Monument Mountain’s girls also picked up a pair of dual meet wins on Thursday, beating Wahconah and Lenox.

 

The Spartans’ Mabel Cooney and Amelia Desilets each won as an individual and ran on the squad’s winning 4-by-400 relay quartet. Cooney won the 400 dash; Desilets won the 1600 meters.

 

For Wahconah, Adelyn Furlong swept the throws, and Kathryn Perrone swept the hurdles.

 

In the boys meet, Wahconah won a pair of duals, and Lenox beat Monument Mountain.

 

The Millionaires were led by Ian Bridges with a win in the 400 meters and the anchor leg on the winning 4-by-400 relay.

 

Wahconah’s Liam Furlong won the 110 hurdles and 400 hurdles. His teammate Payton Shippee doubled in the shot put and javelin.

 

For the host Spartans, Oliver Berkowitz took first in the 100 and 200 and won the long jump.
